Father: DE Kirk Poston Verbally Commits to the University of Colorado

Dan Hawkins hasn’t been exactly blazing the recruiting trail ever since Colorado announced the head coach of their football team will return for a fifth season. However today optimism is brimming within the program after receiving a verbal commitment from one of their top recruits.

Kirk Poston, the defensive end out of St. Pius X high school in Houston, Texas, has made his choice to play for the Buffaloes.

“My highly recruited son, (defensive end out of Houston) verbally commits to the University of Colorado,” said Kirk's father, NFL agent Carl Poston to Fox31's Josina Anderson.

Poston is a 6’2, 230lb defensive lineman that has been described as physical and hard playing. Scouts have written Poston is best utilized when he’s allowed to roam around the line.

Poston has a positive outlook on a Colorado squad that finished 3-9 in 2009, and is 16-33 overall during Hawkins’ tenure.

Poston visited Colorado’s campus Nov.7, the same weekend his father’s client Ty Law came to town and agreed to play for the Broncos.

“I like defensive line coach Romeo Bandison, and CU’s business school. Plus with a few more players we can play for a national championship like CU did in the past,” said Kirk Poston via text.

Unfortunately, a couple of Colorado’s four-star recruits no longer share the same sentiment.

In the aftermath of CU athletic director Mike Bohn announcing on Nov.26 that Hawkins would return, running back Mister Jones (Littleton high school), and Danny Spond (Columbine high school) have de-committed from CU.

As of Monday, CU’s 2010 recruiting class ranked 67th by rivals.com which is the lowest among Big 12 teams.

Hawkins already has already vowed to do what it takes to turn the Buffs program around, including improving the quarterback position where his son Cody formally started.
