On Monday, July 20th I finally took the leap and did something I’ve been considering for two years now… I wanted to try to improve the sun-damage on my face, from YEARS of too much sun exposure, from literally baking myself as a teenager and young adult.
I went to Vitahl Medical Rejuvention in Cherry Creek North, and Dr. Tahl Humes performed the Pearl Laser Resurfacing procedure in about 20 minutes.
Now, it will take about five days of healing and peeling, and at the end I should have a much nicer, smoother, pearly complexion. Dr. Humes believes it will take at least one more treatment, maybe two to completely get rid of my deep sun spots, but we’ll take it one step at a time of course.
I decided to do this process live on Martino TV and blog about it because I think it’s important to show anyone who’s considering this (male or female) the raw, cold hard facts. As you can see, it ISN”T PRETTY for a few days, but it is NOT PAINFUL.
The biggest question I get right now is whether it’s painful at all. NO. I put a numbing cream on my face one hour before the procedure, then during the laser treatment it feels like someone is flicking my face with their finger, and there’s a kind of popping sound as the laser zaps the top layer of skin. Immediately following the treatment, my skin got very red and hot. That was the most uncomfortable part and it lasted about 90 minutes. During that time, my face felt very hot and it was throbbing, and gave me a headache. I took Advil through the evening, and kept my face in front of fan or air-conditioner until the heat subsided. At that point I started using the medical creams that Dr. Humes gave me. She says it’s extremely important to keep my face moist the entire time it’s healing. I feel like I have grease smeared all over my face, which feels disgusting, but I have not been in pain or uncomfortable in any way since that first 90 minutes.
If you want to check out some of the video of the procedure, I’ve posted part of Tuesday’s Martino TV show so you can click on it and watch below.
I hope this information helps anyone who has been considering such a procedure.
Thanks for watching and reading, please let me know if you have comments or questions.
